The YCT (Youth Chinese Test) is an international standardized test designed to assess the Chinese language proficiency of non-native Chinese speakers aged between 6 and 14. It consists of a series of levels, from YCT Level 1 to YCT Level 4, each representing a different proficiency level. The test evaluates listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and is widely recognized for assessing students' Chinese language abilities and facilitating their Chinese language learning journey.
Chinese Language Art YCT L1
Students learn fundamental Chinese language skills suitable for beginners. They grasp basic vocabulary, simple sentence structures, and common phrases for daily communication. Listening skills are developed to understand short, simple spoken sentences and instructions. Reading comprehension involves recognizing basic Chinese characters and understanding simple texts. Writing tasks focus on copying characters and forming basic sentences. Overall, YCT Level 1 provides a foundational understanding of the Chinese language, preparing students for further language learning.
Chinese Language Art YCT L2
Students build upon the foundational skills acquired in Level 1. They expand their vocabulary to include more everyday topics and learn more complex sentence structures. Listening skills are honed to comprehend longer conversations and instructions. In reading, students progress to understanding short passages and simple stories. Additionally, cultural knowledge is introduced, providing insights into Chinese traditions and customs. By the end of YCT Level 2, students have developed a stronger grasp of the Chinese language and are better equipped for further language learning and communication.
Chinese Language Art YCT L3
Students Learn 24 lessons covering 160 words and 40 grammar and function items from YCT level 3. Lessons 1-11 are instructional, while Lesson 12 serves as a review. Each lesson spans 3-4 class hours.
Each lesson comprises key sentences, new vocabulary, reading texts, activities, songs, mini-stories, and a model test page. Key sentences, totaling 2 per lesson, serve as essential function items and grammar pointers.

Students learn 30 lessons covering 360 words and YCT level 4 grammar and function items. Each lesson comprises key sentences, new words, reading and speaking texts, activities, songs, mini-stories, and a model test page. It balances traditional exercises with interactive activities, promoting dynamic learning experiences.
